SEED PAMPASCA GRASS PINK VILMORIN

Pampas grass (pink)
Cortaderia selloana, also called Pampas grass, is a tall grass
native to the southern parts of South America. The impressive and
majestic flower stalks always attract attention. The offered seeds
are suitable for medium-sized and large gardens. Cortaderia forms
large dense tufts of tough, flat and narrow leaves. The inflorescences are
silky purple to pink in colour and can be used for decoration and
drying. The stem of the flower stalk itself is sturdy, light green and reaches from
1.80 to 3.60 m in height, and the inflorescences are huge. This ornamental
grass blooms from early to late summer depending on the specific
microclimate; the flowering is long-lasting. Left to ripen on the plant,
the inflorescences take on a golden hue as the weather cools.
During the first season after sowing the seeds, it is good to protect Cortaderia
from severe frost, unless you sowed the seeds
early in spring, in which case the young grasses will be large enough to
overwinter successfully outdoors.
It requires minimal care. It loves a lot of sun and well-drained soil with
constant moisture. Do not cut the foliage in autumn, but in
spring, as the old leaves serve as natural protection against cold.
It withstands down to -20℃ without problems, even in combination with strong wind, as long as
the soil is not waterlogged. Be very careful when touching the leaves
of Cortaderia and wear gloves, because the cuts are quite
painful.
Cortaderia begins to flower two to three years after sowing the
seeds and is a long-lived, perennial plant.
