Power cable QED - XT3, 2 m, black

QED XT3 power cables feature a specially modified version of X-Tube technology, similar to that used in QED loudspeaker cables, but specifically tuned to be suitable for this purpose. The individual stranded conductors in the phase and neutral conductors are small enough not to be affected by eddy currents from adjacent conductors that contribute to the proximity effect.

As they are effectively insulated from each other, the carefully calculated twist rate of the strands means that no two conductors remain next to each other in a parallel configuration for more than a few millimetres, further improving the even flow of current through the cable at all frequencies. The individual strands are individually insulated using K130 PVC to control the cable capacitance and ensure the level of electrical insulation required by international safety standards. The entire unit is fitted with a hollow LDPE core to control the cable inductance. In this way, the correct phase relationship between voltage and current is not altered by the cable parameters, further reducing distortion compared to a regular power cable.

The XT3 is designed to be as thin and flexible as possible and therefore practical. Only the live and neutral cores are subjected to the X-Tube treatment described above - the earth core (required only under fault conditions) is left in conventional geometry. And because the X-Tube geometry allows the entire cable cross-section to be kept to 1.5 mm sq, the XT3 is extremely flexible and thin.
