The box has a compartment for the checkers and is made of American walnut with oak points and black maple. The board has approximate dimensions of 48 x 30 cm (closed). Walnut wood has a beautiful appearance and is associated with confidence and wisdom. The veneer made from it can range from light brown to chocolate brown with dark brown veins. The colour may sometimes have a grey, purple or reddish tint. The board is handmade using the marquetry technique, also known as inlay, in which different types of veneer are cut into shapes. The shapes are then arranged and fitted into one another, thus creating a playing field of incredible beauty.
