Dune: The Atreides Dynasty

The award-winning series "Dune" by Frank Herbert captures the imagination of millions of readers around the world.

By his death in 1986, Herbert had completed six novels, but much of his ideas remained unwritten. Brian Herbert, who works on his father's discovered documents, and bestselling author Kevin J. Anderson create a new novel – a prelude to "Dune," in which we step onto the planet Arrakis… decades before the "Dune" hero Paul Atreides finds himself among its sands.

Once again we see the rich and complex world created by Frank Herbert, in the time preceding the fateful events of "Dune." While the son of Emperor Elrood, Shaddam, plots against the ruler, young Leto Atreides departs for a year-long training at the high-tech world Ix. A planetologist named Pardot Kynes seeks the secrets of Arrakis, and eight-year-old slave Duncan Idaho is hunted by his cruel masters in a terrifying game, from which he vows to escape and take revenge. None of them, however, suspects what fate awaits them – one that will turn them into fugitives… and will give them the power to change history.
