Solvent-borne, wax-containing wood oil for exterior use. Protects wood against moisture and dirt and reduces cracking of wooden surfaces.
Suitable for decking, garden furniture, terraces, stairs, and piers.
The product is suitable for protecting untreated or previously oil-treated exterior wooden surfaces. Suitable for impregnated wood (pressure-treated), hardwood, thermally modified wood, and untreated wood.
Colors: Valtti semi-transparent wood finishes. Can be tinted into Tikkurila semi-transparent exterior colors.
Coverage: Old and worn wooden surfaces: 5-7 m²/l. New surfaces or wooden surfaces in good condition: 7-15 m²/l.
Application method: With a brush or sponge.
Drying time at 23CWith a relative air humidity of 50%: Touch dry in a few hours. The porosity of the substrate and the amount of oil used affect the drying time. The second coat can be applied as soon as the surface is dry - within a few hours, depending on weather conditions.
Weather resistance: We recommend using a tinted product, as it has better weather resistance than the colorless product. Maintenance treatment should be carried out if necessary. Surfaces continuously exposed to weather may need to be treated annually.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Application conditions: The surface to be treated must be dry. This means that the moisture content of the wood must be below 20%, as damp wood does not absorb oil well and dries slowly in humid conditions. Since pressure-treated wood is often damp, we recommend treating it about 6 months after installation. During application and drying, the temperature of the air, surface, and wood stain must be at least +5°C, and the relative air humidity below 80%.
Untreated surfaces: Clean the wooden surface of any dirt, dust, and loose material. Wash moldy wooden surfaces with Homeenpoisto or Tehopesu following the instructions.
Surfaces previously treated with wood oil: Remove loose material using a scraper and/or wire brush. Clean the surfaces and, if necessary, wash them with Homeenpoisto or Tehopesu following the instructions. If a visible film remains on the surface after cleaning, remove it before treatment.
Application: Stir the Valtti Decking Oil product thoroughly before use and periodically during application. Apply the oil evenly with a brush or sponge so that the oil is absorbed uniformly into the wood. Wipe off excess oil. Spread evenly along the entire length of the surface with continuous movements so that there is no overlapping. Apply a single coat. Oil treatment makes the wood look darker. When necessary, carry out maintenance treatment. Surfaces continuously exposed to weather may need to be treated annually.
Maintenance instructions: After painting, the surfaces should be treated carefully for about a week to allow the product to reach its final hardness and durability. If necessary, about two days after treatment, surfaces can be gently cleaned with a soft brush or mop. Soiled surfaces can be cleaned with Maalipesu (1 part Maalipesu to 10 parts water). Stains and heavily soiled surfaces are cleaned with a stronger solution of Maalipesu and water (1:1). After cleaning, rinse the surfaces and let them dry.
