APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Application conditions
The surface to be varnished should be dry, the ambient temperature should be at least +10°C and the relative air humidity 30-80%.
Surface preparation
1. New wooden surfaces: Clean the wooden surface of any dirt and dust. Lightly dampen the surface with water, let it dry and remove loose wood fibres by sanding. Remove the sanding dust.
2. Previously varnished surfaces: Wash the surface with a cleaning agent and rinse carefully with water. Dull the surface. If the varnished surface is in very poor condition, remove it completely with paint stripper or by sanding. Treat as a new wooden surface.
Varnishing
Stir the Kiva varnish thoroughly from the bottom of the packaging before and occasionally during use. Thin with water if necessary. Apply 2-3 coats with a brush, sponge or by spraying. If using tinted products, first test the product on a separate piece of wood to make sure the colour is correct.
The final colour of the varnished surface depends on the type, hardness,
the original colour of the wood and the number of coats applied. Thin the varnish by approximately 20-30% with water for the first coat. Usually the desired colour and gloss level can be achieved after applying two coats. Always work surfaces without interruption, large panels several boards at once, to achieve an even colour.
Maintenance instructions
If necessary, at the earliest approximately 1 month after varnishing the surface. Lightly clean the surface with a damp cleaning tool, soft brush, sponge or cleaning cloth and a neutral (pH 6-8) cleaner. Do not leave the surface wet. Clean heavily soiled surfaces with a mildly alkaline (pH 8-10) cleaning solution and, for example, a cleaning cloth or sponge. Rinse the surface carefully.
